Makeup is designed to enhance a person's beauty, so spend some time determining your best feature. Once you do this, you can experiment with color and techniques to find what will work for you. Follow make up advice from the experts and play up either the eyes or lips but not both.
Foundation and Blush
The foundation you choose should match your skin. If possible, test the makeup on your face in natural lighting to make sure it does not leave a line of demarcation. You may need to change colors for summer and winter if you spend much time outdoors. Add blush to the apples of your cheeks for a sun kissed look.
Eyes
If your eyes are your best feature, enhance them with eye shadow, eyeliner, mascara, and eyebrow color. Keep in mind that lighter eye shadow makes the area appear larger and closer, while darker shadow makes the area recede. Eyeliner can be tricky, so spend some time practicing before you go out in public. Mascara comes in a wide variety of formulas, including lengthening, thickening, and waterproof. Eyebrows form a frame for your eyes, so you select a shade of eyebrow color slightly darker than the color of your hair in a pencil or powder.
Lips
Choose a lip color in a tone that enhances your skin in either a cool or a warm shade. Cooler shades include plum, mauve, and a deep red. Warmer shades are tomato red, coral, peach, or coffee. If you have an uneven lip line or your lipstick tends to feather, start with a lip pencil close to the shade of your lipstick. Outline your lips with the pencil and fill in the color with your lipstick.
